My husband and I stayed in Savannah in 1997. We both lived here – our first date was dinner at Bella’s then drinks at the 17hundred90 in front of the fire place. We planned to return for our 10th anniversary last year (we live in AL now) but I was very ill. So the trip here this weekend was very special to us. We ate at Bella’s tonight – it was wonderful. I highly recommend it. The veal marsala and tiramisu is to DIE for! The Chicago hot dog on River Street (vendor) is delicious! The trip to Fort Jackson was surprisingly good. I “owed” my husband a fort and this one was well done! (I admit, however, I got a pedicure at angel’s while he went to Fort Pulaski yesterday!) An evening stroll around Forsyth Park and the squares… it doesn’t cost a penny and will be one of your best experiences in Savannah. Use the pedicabs. No need to park and surprisingly romantic. They often give you a mini tour on the way! Savannah is a magical place. Historic district, Isle of Hope, Tubby’s on Thunderbolt Island, Wormslo, Skidaway State Park… So many wonderful places and quirky, interesting, and loving people. We have so many wonderful memories here.
